New User Registration reopened

I have temporarily disabled new user registration due to an unusual number of spammers registering. Although I've taken some action to curb the numbers of spammers, I need to investigate a few more changes before re-opening registration.

I apologize for the inconvenience. This is just a temporary change and I expect to re-open registration within a week.

Any luck on the problems? Do you notice the levels of bad things dropping? I wonder if its related to the extra press jms is getting?

I steered a few people here, but they couldn't register of course.

DougO has re-opened Registrations in case there are folks who'd like to join our happy band. So far (knock on wood) only one spam has been posted since it's been re-opened.

Yes, registration is open again and only one spammer has hit us since he re-opened it quietly. So if you've got buddies who've been waiting to register, let them know that the welcome mat is back out.
