JMS posted on his Facebook page:

The announcement is up...this was a huge sale to Dreamworks, and I'm also on as an Executive Producer on the film as well as the writer. The search is on now for a director aand stars, nd the hope is to get this in front of the camera asap.

I am a huge Houdini fan and have been from when I was kid. He is one of the reasons I did magic for a living in college. I was once thinking of writing a book about him called Houdini: The Man, The Myth, The Legend. Sadly I never did.

However there are a few good bios out about him. His friendship with Doyle was contentious to say the least. They looked at Spiritualism from opposite ends of the spectrum.

I can't wait to see what JMS does with this.

Sounds like H G Wells and his time machine must be involved, too:

It will center on Houdini and Doyle who, with the help of a female cop, try to solve bizarre murders and strange occurrences that look like hauntings and other supernatural events using steampunk technology.

Emphasis mine. Sigh...

Hahaha ^^ and yes - the world really needs another cheap and poorly written Sci-Fi / Fantasy / Action Series... :(

I brought this news up to a friend and said "Wow, JMS has hit the big time, Clint Eastwood Directing, then Wachowski Bros then Underworld and now a Dreamworks movie."

My friend said, "Sounds to me like he's on a downward spiral."

:(

I still laughed though.

This movie sounds like an awesome concept and I can't wait to see it.
