Thunderclap?

This is off-topic from TV, but I've just learned about Thunderclap.it.

I see that someone is trying to make a Thunderclap for Tron Uprising... not too successfully, from the look of it. It's in the Film category.

But I wonder if it would be possible to get a #FreeBabylon5 Thunderclap???

I don't see why not. Seems like a good idea.

Sorry to be a duffer here but ... what is a Thunderclap?

Blurb from the linked website; "What is Thunderclap?
Thunderclap is the first crowd-speaking platform that helps people be heard by saying something together.
How does it work?
If enough people support it, Thunderclap will blast out a timed Facebook Post or Tweet from all your supporters, creating a wave of attention.
Who's using it?
From passionate individuals with a message to share, to organizations such as The White House, Levis and the United Nations."

Sounds good! I reckon we should send out some oldschool letters AND try this! :)

:D

Yeah me too, I hate having my picture taken(think of Chandler from Friends and his grin when he tries to smile for the camera) so trying to talk to the camera...hmm I don't know. I have all kinds of anxiety just thinking about it but maybe if we get a few more out there, I might try and brave it, maybe have a couple of drinks first LOL

Jan, if anyone is going to do it how would they get the videos to the free Babylon 5 TV channel?

valens_shadow 09-18-2013 05:15 AM

just had another idea

how about those with #FreeBabylon5 T-shirts post pictures as part of a campaign gallery or something?

also given those T-shirts are for Claudia Christian's and Patricia Tallman's charities wouldn't it help the cause(and the charity) to get both actresses post the picture of them wearing one? maybe even getting JMS and other cast members also wearing one?

Interesting! This would definitely fall under the category of both 'get organized' and 'get loud'. Let me look into it a bit further and see what can be done. Thanks!!

Re: The #FreeBabylon5 network. It looks like you'd email your video to FreeBabylon5@gmail.com but it's probably best to send questions to Ranger Jenny. I'd hate to misinform people.

And, folks, don't be self-conscious about doing this. I understand not liking being in front of the camera, believe me. But the point is to show WB our passion for seeing B5 back on the air. I'm betting you could all be convincing. And there's always the 'holding up signs' method if you don't feel you can say what you feel on camera (my personal insecurity).

Thanks, appreciate the answer, as the site was blocked by the company's firewall, so couldn't go see that for myself.

PS. I'm not on facebook, but my Missus is, and she's just posted my letter on the FreeB5 page. If anyone would like to see it, feel free to go and draw attention to it! Maybe we can generate some groundswell behind it. Thank you! https://www.facebook.com/FreeBabylon5
It was may hope to write something concise (ie. one side of A4) because I'm sure most people's brains switch off before the 2nd page (present company excluded!), and not so scifi-y and jargon-y that it would scare off a non SF fan! I also tried to keep it polite, and non-militant too, Ha-ha!
Cheers, I hope you enjoy it and I hope it gives you some ideas for your own.

I was having some fun on the Silly B5 Quote thread and saw Sinclair's Fan's invite.

Don't know why I hadn't read this thread before, but thank G'Quan what a great idea!

I'd be happy to contribute a vid or two to the FreeBabylon5 Network :)

My 'Londo Into Darkness' video can easily be modified to fit this campaign.
(B5 Into Darkness - Is there anything you would not do for your family... Free B5!)

And, I've also got an idea for a video highlights reel.

Thanks guys
Dave

DaveNarn, reporting for duty! Yipee! Let the fun begin. :)

PS. I sent a PM to you the other day about an idea I've had for quite a while for a B5 clip you might like to try. I'll try to get the details together over the weekend, just in case you're up for a challenge! And thank you for coming to the #FreeBabylon5 party!

:D:D:D

DaveNarn 09-20-2013 06:56 PM

Well I submitted one to the #FreeBabylon5 Network.

If they use it, let's see how long they take to post it.

The Thunderclap idea is a fantastic one. :)

Jan 09-21-2013 09:08 AM

Sinclair's Fan, that was a great letter. Thanks to you (and your missus) for sharing it.

Glad to see you've joined us here, DaveNarn! Thanks for doing a video, and I hope to see it soon. Ranger Jenny's a busy student but I'm sure she'll get it up as soon as she can.

Other folks, remember that these don't have to look professional, they just need to look sincere.

Sandra, as I've looked further into Thunderclap, I can't find anything negative so I definitely will be moving ahead with it. I'm going to step up my efforts to get the website up and running so we can do this. Thanks again!

Has anybody else written letters they'd care to share? I'm looking at having a page where some sample paragraphs will be available for people to use as inspiration or even copy parts of when composing their own letters.
