I'm so bad about remembering to pull out the camera! So far I've taken all of one photo, of the first DC panel that JMS was on. I *always* have the recorder, though. It's handy for remembering exactly what JMS says.

Jan

ETA: Patty, Jon's got som phone issues. I'll send you my cell # in a PM. JMS's spotlight runs until 5:30 and his signing is directly after that.

I remember he said he got the script for #9 in, but then someone told me it was canceled, so didn't know for sure. That's good to hear.

Reason I'm wondering about the B5 graphic novel, is I'm curious if the possible future B5 feature film will affect it or not. Unfortunately for me, I'm stuck in Los Angeles all weekend with work so didn't get a chance to go to the con.

Jon and I just got back from the con (and dinner with PMVanova). The Spotlight panel of JMS's was *great*! He arranged (through Pat Tallman's Talent To Go company, I believe) for there to be a staged reading of the upcoming Wonder Woman 601. Four young actors were onstage reading the parts and JMS read the descriptions for the panels with no dialogue while each page showed up on the big screen. I liked it a lot! We get the backstory on what happened to Paradise Island and to Queen Hippolyta and more info on her opponents.

JMS said that we'll find out more as we go along and that much of what Diana/Wonder Woman will be facing is based on Greek mythology.

The word on The Twelve is that Chris Weston is working on it and is sending JMS pages every couple of weeks.

I can't think of any real big news. JMS mentioned names like Spielberg and Cameron and others but they're all projects that he can't talk about. I think he may have thought there'd be some announcements by the time the con rolled around. He also mentioned that there's a TV project in the works but, again, he can't discuss it.

Oh, Cameron won't be directing Forbidden Planet because he's prepping for Avatar 2 (I think it was).

It was a great panel and JMS ended it reminding people to Never Surrender Dreams.

Now that's double news for me to pass on! On my Avatar group board there was speculation about Cameron holding off the next Avatar movie because of Forbidden Planet.
Gee... wonder who they're going to get to do it now?

Great dinner with Jan and Shadow.... good to see you guys again. Next time, we'll have to do a special request for the Mariachi's in honor of Comic Con! hehehehe

Barney... and Looney Toons... hilarious!

Arrow CCI: J. Michael Straczynski

Last Saturday afternoon at Comic-Con International in San Diego, J. Michael Straczynski held a lively discussion of his work on “Wonder Woman,” “Superman,” potential film projects, and the skeletons in his writing closet. He also hosted a live reading of the upcoming “Wonder Woman” #601 with professional actors in an effort to win over skeptics of the heroine's new direction.

Straczynski began by saying the rude introduction in the convention program upset many people, including his own agent. It read as follows:

J. Michael Straczynski— J. Michael Straczynski speaks (despite requests to the contrary) about his work on (and on and on) such comics as Superman (well, we guess it had to happen eventually) and Wonder Woman (at least they have the same fashion sense), his movies, including Shattered Union (shattered hopes that he wouldn't show up), Forbidden Planet (is that still going on?), and more he will be announcing here for the first time. Get the inside skinny on the writer's life from one of Hollywood's most prolific and hardworking writers (because you always have to work twice as hard when you don't know what you're doing). (Bob, very funny, just remember to edit this back to normal before uploading it to the Comic-Con schedule.)

Found over at B5TV.com Bruce Boxleitner mentioned that he's spoken to JMS recently and JMS told him that he does have an idea for a B5 feature (as we reported from the Orange County Screenwriter's Assn. appearance).

But having an idea and getting it to fruition can be a very long process and possibly die on the vine before harvest!
Any chance to see Bruce in a GOOD film or show is fine by me. (note the caps, this excludes anything from SciFi channel or romance novel movies.)
I wonder if they met up at the con or afterward? They were both there... it would be cool to know.

Already got 17th December 2010 marked down in my diary for Tron Legacy ... just happens to be my birthday, too.

Now I know three people who have a birthday on 17 December, not to mention the anniversary of Kitty Hawk.

Thanks for sharing, Kim, and welcome!

Was that you who asked JMS the question about the character in "Ninja Assassin"?
