If Ivanova could have found love and kept it
If Ivanova would have been allowed to find love on the show and keep it, at least for a while, who you have preferred she ended up with? Talia or Marcus or Sheridan or somebody else?
I just rewatched Midnight on the firing line and I was really captivated by the Susan and Talia scenes. I thought they had a very interesting relationship, with them being on opposite sides of such a large issue. And I loved the slow progression of their friendship/romantic relationship. I personally would have loved Talia to have become her happily ever after, and was quite sad when she left. And even after Marcus gave up his life to save Ivanova, I don't recall her saying anything other than wishing she would have slept with him to be nice, while after Talia left she confided to Delenn that she might have loved her, so this makes me feel as if Talia may have been her only chance for true romantic love. (Not that she wasn't gutted over his death. Her grieving scene over him was very well done, I just didn't come away from it as if she ever loved him romantically, though I think she did care about him greatly as a friend.) And of course as I go back through the series I am going to be paying closer attention to these things that I have in the past, so I may pick up clues that I missed before. ![]() In Sleeping in Light her character just seems so sad and alone, even if she did progress quite far vocationally. I think she should have been allowed a happier ending. Although who knows, maybe she met someone on Minbar. Last edited by Delenn_of_Mir; 05-20-2012 at 03:39 PM. |

I did interpret Ivanova's grief over the death of Marcus as confirmation of she being in love with him, but unwilling to accept it to herself until it was too late.
Her being hurt so recently over the Talia situation is what prevented her from embracing Marcus. There were also mentions of her not having had good luck with previous relationships. Had Claudia Christian signed up for the 5th season there would have been (likely at least) some lines with her confessing her feelings for Marcus. In an alternate universe fans also got to see a storyline of Ivanova falling too quick for Byron precisely because she was too cautious and missed her chance with Marcus.

I saw her reaction to Marcus' sacrifice as guilt and regret more than love. I'm not sure she actually loved him, but I think she saw the possibility of love -- the seeds as it were.

The smuggler in 'Racing Mars' would be a good fit for Susan Ivanova.
He seemed ready to pursue her even after she had broken his arm and may have been most capable of keeping her interest. |

Is this an alternate universe story in fanfic or short story format? If it is I would love to read. ![]() Quote:

I rather liked that she never found love. Misery is very realistic and JMS does realistic very well.
