Took me a minute to recognize the song "Halleluja" as I've only recently gotten familiar with the lyrics.

Quote:
"Hallelujah"
("Various Positions" Version)

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Pretty melancholy for a Christmas song but I'm expecting an emotional roller-coaster. Can't wait!!

It's a shame the song is so over used at this point and remains the number one choice of song to be butchered by aspiring singer songwriters, there are far too many bad cover versions out there now. I wish people would just use the Leonard Cohen version, which remains the best.

Nice nod to Leaonard Cohen passing away though. I wonder if it was too expensive to use the original?

Ubik, I planned to post something similar. Even a great song like Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" can become a cliche if it is overused.

Hallelujah Again
This video shows that "Hallelujah" is pop culture's most overplayed song.

IMDb shows 108 times that "Hallelujah" has been used in a film or television program.

And there, children is why I never feel bad at all about not being 'up' on current culture. To me it's almost a brand new song.

Oh, I've heard several Cohen versions. It's just not been oversaturated for me.

"The "Hallelujah" version in trailer is exclusive to Sense8; Lead vocal by Daniel Martin Moore, backed by the Apollo Chorus of Chicago." edit "Full version will be featured in the episode!"

Great information, thanks.

I was listening to the JMS Sense8 panel at Loscon back at Thanksgiving 2014 and I'd asked a question that led to how much time the whole five year arc would encompass. Obviously things might have changed in the interim but at that point JMS thought that season two would pick up a couple of months after the first.

Netflix made a sort of (but not really) recap video of Season 1:

Capheus is barely featured, presumably because of the recast. One of his 3 scenes is actually with Onwumere on the role (so it must be footage from Season 2) and the other two don't show his face clearly.

Meanwhile Netflix Brazil (but of course), posted a video with Smith, Desai and Silvestre sharing tips with viewers on how to watch the Christmas Special during Christmas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfcvupb3HkA

Way back in Nov. 2013 when JMS did a Sense8 panel at Loscon I'd asked him about the time frame of the series and he said it was still being worked out. But he did say (and mind, this was *way* before writing on the second season was even mentioned) that they thought the second season would start a couple of months after the first. Looks like that changed to about a month or so. So happy we'll see their birthday celebration.

A pretty unspoilery review of the Christmas Special.

http://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/sense...pecial-review/

And not a single mention of JMS.

Considering he used the word "Wachowskis" about half a dozen times without making mention of the fact only 1 Wachowski worked on this, I'm not surprised JMS went unmentioned.

edit A tiny bit more footage here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BOP_fXoBiE-/
