The Expanse Saved by Amazon

https://www.geekwire.com/2018/amazon...-cancellation/

Amazon has picked up the Expanse for S4 after SyFy let the show go. I must admit I don't blame SyFy for the decisiongiven the cost vs their somewhat limited deal on broadcast rights.

Awesome to see quality and popularity can save a show. Cool to see things can hop to a streaming service like this. I don't LOVE the show, but have been happily watching it as it airs. It's fairly solid, probably some of the best proper SF in recent years.

And I gotta admit S03E08 was positively awesome.

S3 is continuing to really impress me. It's definitely really firing on all cylinders now.

Someone please tell me they saw this week's episode "Dandelion Sky". Holy shit... they just had their 'kick all the tables over' moment. Okay, it took till S3... but wow, that was cool. This has just gone from a show I like, to a show I'm genuinely excited about. So glad this was picked up by amazon. It's a slow burn, but the payoff has been so good this season.

Would if I could, but don’t have access to stirfry (I mean syfy) right now so haven’t seen it yet. Though to be honest, even if I had access I wouldn’t be watching because it does sound so good. As crazy as that might seem I’m one of those who has reacted to so many good shows being pulled for one reason or another. So now I just don’t invest in them until they either finish (with a proper ending) or get at least four or five seasons under their belt. . . . also makes binge watching for the first time far more enjoyable as there’s more story to see.

Hahaha. Points for the best 'forum ate my post' in a while?

And in response to Triple F: What I was trying to say before the forum ate my post was that we are 3 seasons in (and wasn't that 3rd season really something!?)

Amazon have just picked it up for at least another 1 season guaranteed, but I suspect we'll get at least 2 more seasons minimum. Not sure what the whole arc is, or if the books are fully completed yet (I think not), so we're in a GOT style scenario. But yeah, S3 was stunningly good by the time it wrapped.

S1-2 are on Netflix right now, and S3 can't be far behind. I must admit I watched S3 on 'free' streaming sites so I could watch in real time as it aired (I don't own a TV).

I'm way behind on this, and I've only seen S1-S2 so far, but damn ... this show is spectacular. How did SyFy get their hands on this in the first place? They haven't done anything worth a damn since they cancelled Farscape (I see you looking at me, Battlestar Galactica -- I meant it). Anyway, this show reminds me so much of Babylon 5. If you're not watching it, you've missed something great.

Agree. I admit S2 dragged a little in places, but the end of S3 just really really blew the whole thing wide open and left me wanting more instantly. It's the closest to B5 in terms of a proper arc I've seen in ages, and even the pilot instantly put me in mind of B5's look and feel, especially the noir tints to Miller's yarn starting on Ceres station.

Yeah, love this show. Nothing else comes close at the moment.
