Wonder Woman

I just saw Wonder Woman, finally.

It was sooooooooooooooo awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I definitely like her much better than Supergirl. And Gal Gadot? WOW.

Beautiful and smart and hard working and sweet and wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!

Having a female director really shows.

The movie was so well written and directed. That is how you tell a super hero origin story. And all I could think while watching it was that this is how Rey's story should have been told.

JJ is such a hack and wouldn't know a proper story arc if one bit him on his derriere. I was so disappointed with how Rey in The Force Awakens was handled, but then Diana was handled so brilliantly and perfectly in Wonder Woman.

This movie restores my faith in movies. If only they could all be that good!

And while reading up on the canon of Wonder Woman, I found out that JMS wrote for her, for awhile. I thought that was cool and wonder what his expression would have looked like.

If I ever get rich I may have to start dipping into the comics world. But right now I just don't have the budget. I do love the few B5 comics I have though.

To end, Gal Gadot rules. Patty Jenkins rules. And Wonder Woman rules forever!!!!!!!!

PS: Did JMS ever write for She-Ra? I thought I remembered reading somewhere that he did. I'd love a live action She-Ra film, one day.

Also that one where the superhero had to kill people to get their life force to continue living, but she only killed bad people. I don't remember what it was called. Was a cartoon. That would make an awesome movie, too.

Now that Wonder Woman was such a success, I am hoping for a plethora of female led superhero movies. The time has come and the world is ready!!!!!!

"During this time he [JMS] became friends with Larry DiTillio, and when Filmation produced the He-Man spinoff She-Ra: Princess of Power, they both worked as story editors on the show. However, Filmation refused to give them credit on-screen and Straczynski and DiTillio both left and found work with DIC on Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors."

My pleasure

Thanks!

That was pretty rude to not give them credit for their hard work, don't blame Joe and Larry for taking off and working on JATWW instead.

I thought Gal Godot was great, and I'm very happy to see a female fronted superhero film. However, that said, I was quite disappointed by the film itself. As far as recent DC films go, it's a cut above, but measured against any other yardstick it's a fair-pretty bad film in my book. I had real problems with the way WW is handled as a character and found that it has all the common Hollywood issues when dealing with strong female characters.

Too much 'born sexy yesterday' for the first half of the film. It had scope to be better than that.
Then it just degenerates into big one big mindless CGI laden fist fight that has all the emotional impact of a soggy lettuce.
James Cameron also caused a bit of a stir by pointing out how backwards the portrayal of women was in the film.

Nope, not for me, but it's the best film DC have done in a while. Personally, I don't get the hype. I think people have gotten so carried away with it having a female lead that no one has looked at it objectively. Somehow 'not awful', has been translated to 'amazing', but each to their own. Glad it's found an audience.

Sorry Delenn of Mir, I feel bad raining on your super enthused review!

The good news is, there are indeed more female fronted Superhero properties in the pipeline, both Captain Marvel (female) and Squirrel Girl as a TV show, i think. that trend, at least, is a step forward.

Agree with Ubik. Gadot is a revelation, but Jenkins is getting way too much praise simply because she's a woman. In general, it's a pretty average script that is mostly competently directed, but the third act is atrocious. Still, Gadot and Pine are spectacular together and separately, so it works. And it's set in the DC universe, which has churned out one steaming pile of crap after another, so this average film with likable leads appears genius in comparison.
