The opinionated reviewer at SF Debris is back with a review of "Confessions and Lamentations".

As with his last review, "Severed Dreams", the heavy subject matter somewhat precludes the reviewer's ability to make jokes. However, I did particularly enjoy it when Keefer is referred to as "that flying mannequin".

I was surprised though that the reviewer only gave the episode a rating of "Fine".

The Quality of Mercy

The description of Londo's cheating, which I won't spoil, is hilarious!

Yeah that was pretty good. Can't say I always see the point in reviews like this. I don't know why anyone would want to watch something that gives away this much detail when it isn't to poke fun at how bad the subject is. If you think it is a "Fine" episode then why reveal everything that happens?! Why not save the plot points and tell people to watch it?! I don't know. I don't understand videos that are just summations of the plot with a little opinion given. It works when the subject deserves to be lampooned, but not when it is just an episode the audience should see. Of course I also think QUALITY OF MERCY is better than just fine, but I can definitely see the point where it aired did diminish its effect.

I'm guessing that because: 1.) the show in question is over 20 years old, and 2.) the review is hosted on a dedicated SF site, as opposed to Youtube, the reviewer assumes that his audience has already seen the episode in question.

But I agree it would be nice if there was a way for newbies to just see the rating without the spoilers. Perhaps a 1-6 or 0-5 rating* after the title in the menu on the left?

*His rating system seems to be:
Skip It
Watchable
Fine
Strongly Recommended
Must See

I missed this with all my holiday activities, but the opinionated reviewer at SF Debris posted a review of "TKO" as his 2017 Christmas episode.

The reviewer declares "TKO" the worst B5 episode ever, and gives it a rating of "Avoid". The review itself is pretty funny.

And The Sky Full of Stars

The reviewer is harder on the episode than I expected. I enjoyed the revelation that Knight One and Knight Two were members of "The Order of Big-Chinned Blonde Men."

I'm not sure if this was a deliberate choice for Valentine's Day, but SF Debris posted a new Babylon 5 review on February 14, 2018:

Deathwalker
https://sfdebris.com/videos/babylon5/b5s1e09.php

There are some funny jokes regarding certain League members which I won't spoil.

I also particularly enjoyed this joke which makes reference to "Chrysalis":

"G'Kar shows up to apologize on Na'Toth's behalf. And given this rare act of diplomacy, Sinclair is willing to meet him halfway and lock Na'Toth up in G'Kar's quarters. And I think we can all agree that having to listen to him go at it with three prostitutes at the same time is punishment enough for anybody."

SF Debris posted a new Babylon 5 review today:

Survivors

The reviewer is sticking with Season 1 for the time being, and says he'll be back next month with a review of "By Any Means Necessary".

That one was pretty good. As I watched I just kept thinking of more things to add to it. LOL

I always liked Elaine Thomas, but apparently others do not, e.g., this guy who wrote:

I could say Elaine Thomas, the actress who plays Lianna, is wooden, but that would be an insult to wood and wood by-products everywhere.

I forgot to check, but SF Debris did post their promised review of "By Any Means Necessary" on 06/20/2018:

By Any Means Necessary
https://sfdebris.com/videos/babylon5/b5s1e12.php

I enjoyed Orin Zento being referred to as "Henry Winkler's stunt double".

Have you showed any of these to C&T instead of the episode? I am actually more curious to know if C&T have begun to develop any desire to go back and watch any of the episodes you skipped? I guess you can't really show them any of these reviews because he does put spoilers about the future in them on occasion.

I don't think so. However, C did mention that Peter Jurasik looked familiar to her, so she looked up his filmography on-line. She ultimately concluded that she hadn't seen Jurasik in any of his other roles.

So C has never seen Tron (1982) . . . or Problem Child (1990). Jurasik is great as the rival to John Ritter in Problem Child (1990).
