Joe at San Diego Comic-Con

I know a lot of people here might be making it to the San Diego Comic-Con and might be looking to get Joe to sign a few things (like their stack of script books). I thought it might be good to get a show of hands and see how many people from here are going. Maybe we can set up something with Joe for the script books. The normal autograph sessions will likely be pretty crowded with all the comics he has been producing of late.

I'll be there. But since I'm flying all the way accross the country I'm restricting myself to one script book...if that. I'm actually heading off to Charlotte tonight on an impulse trip to Heroes con. Much easier to drag stuff by car than in luggage.

But anyway, I'll be there for the entire show.

I will be there too. The JMS signing line typically fills up fast so I suggest getting there early if possible. Last year his signing happened immediately after his talk which made it hard to show early if you wanted to attend the talk. Even so, I think it took less than an hour to get through the line.

I was thinking of going, but find myself unable to make any day but Saturday--and I just heard he only has signing sessions Friday and Sunday! And I was going to bring my wheelbarrow of script books too...snif.

JMS's Schedule at SDCC

Here's what's posted for JMS for the con:

Thursday, July 20
3:00-4:30 Marvel Comics: Civil War— The best-selling book of the new millennium has plunged the Marvel Universe into war, pitting friend against friend. Come in for a debriefing and get a sneak peek at what's to come from Joe Quesada and J. Michael Straczynski (Amazing Spider-Man), Paul Jenkins (Civil War: Front Line), Marc Guggenheim (Wolverine), Charles and Daniel Knauf (Iron Man), and many more! Also, surprise announcements from Jeph Loeb (Ultimates 3) and Frank Cho (New Avengers). Room 6A

Friday, July 21
10:30-11:30 Marvel: Spider-Man: Then and Now— Welcome, True Believers, to a once-in-a-lifetime event! In one room for the first and only time, join the men who have influenced Spider-Man's life from the beginning and those who are shaping him into the man he is today: Stan Lee, Joe Quesada, John Romita and J. Michael Straczynski! Find out what went into creating the world's greatest superhero and what the future holds for the wall-crawler. Room 6A

1:30-2:30 J. Michael Straczynski on Writing— One of the most prolific writers in comics (and TV, and movies!) sits down for an intimate discussion on the craft of writing. J. Michael Straczynski is a Comic-Con special guest once again this year. Please note: this is a classroom style setting and seating is extremely limited and available on a first come, first served basis. We do NOT clear the room between events. Room 3

4:30-6:00 From She-Ra and He-Man to Dungeons & Dragons and Beyond!— They may have won DVD awards with their release of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, but under their new Ink & Paint brand, BCI Eclipse isn't stopping there! Brave the far-off worlds of Flash Gordon, Blackstar, andSpace Sentinels with writer Michael Reaves. Witness the magic of the fan-favorite cartoon Dungeons & Dragons, represented by writer Mark Evanier. And BCI's director of acquisitions Jeff Hayne and special features producer (and moderator) Andy Mangels will preview over two dozen upcoming titles, including Ultraman, Joe Cartoon, Happy Tree Friends, Defenders of the Earth, Groovie Goolies, Bravestarr, Ghostbusters, Ark II, Jason of Star Command, and TV's sexy superheroine in Secrets of Isis! Room 5AB

Saturday, July 22

5:00-6:00 Spotlight on J. Michael Straczynski— He's one of the most popular writers in television and comics, and he's about to add the big screen to that list! J. Michael Straczynski, currently writing the Marvel flagship titles Amazing Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, plus Squadron Supreme, is also the creator of the fan-favorite TV series Babylon 5, Crusade, and Jeremiah. JMS is also the author of Changeling, a big-budget feature film for Imagine Entertainment and Universal Pictures, to be produced and potentially directed by Ron Howard. JMS reveals more about his upcoming work during this spotlight! Room 6B

AUTOGRAPHS:
AA7 Friday, 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

JMS also posted that he'd have a signing at the Marvel booth on Sunday from 1 - 2:00 PM.

Since we have no idea what the project is, there's no good answer to that question and no sense speculating.

Umm...no. JMS can afford toys like that, not me (I *wish*). Now maybe our own DougO does? After all, I'm not the only one from here who'll be there.

JMS's spotlight is from 5-6:00 PM on Saturday so don't expect anything until then anyway.

on the subject of cats,
my (semi)cat has gone from scrawny, skittish stray to sitting reporochfuly on the dorstep/gardenwall,fron (upstairs) bedroom windowsill staring at me when I come in from work with a "where have you been" expression on her face" - looks quite reporchufly at me too.
