Babylon Tech

The Whitestar. Sleek. Deadly. Among the most advanced, heavily armed, shielded, manueverable warships in the B5 universe.

Unfortunately, due to their high resemblence to a ''plucked chicken'' it seems jms is less inclined to use them more and more after season 4.

I think this a mistake. Of all the cap ships, the Whitestar, which had a tendency to scream in and out of battles at breakneck speeds, weaving tapestries of death and fire, provided one heck of a lot more adrenaline in the combat scenes than any other cap ship out there, with style.

So what do you think? Is indeed the Whitestar nothing more than a plucked chicken in space, long over due for a trip to the chopping block? Is it? Is it really?

If so, perhaps there is a future for a Whitestar Mark II, a corvette class warship pleasing to the eye at all angles, yes?

Edit: Its profile can be found at:

Plucked Chicken Mark II

I don't know if there is a connection between the "plucked chicken" and the decrease of screen time. The chicken comment only came from "certain angles" and perhaps the modelers tried to only shoot the white stars from their good, non-poultry side.

In Sleeping in Light, Sheridan takes his "Sunday Drive" in an updated-looking White Star.
Perhaps JMS got to de-bone the original 3D model a bit for that ep...

Dare we talk about the Excalibur? Is Gideon compensating for something?

Somebody might have been but it wouldn't have been Gideon since he was assigned after A Call To Arms and the ships had been in their first battle already. Now that design guy who tried to sabotage things...he may have been insecure about some...attributes.

Actually he seemed to me to be a drama-queen, so it's more likely he was fantasizing about something.

Compensation?

I find it a little interesting that you called Mr. Drake, a male character, a drama "queen". Did you pick up on something that was not explicit in the script?

Hey! Don't dis us Marsies!

I mean, okay, we DID have Drake, but Sinclair had no such tendencies (and got to nail the second-best-looking dame in the series).

Yeah, Drake served the Drakh, but thank goodness Sinclair was a straight shooter.

Actually I never thought the White Star looked like a chicken. I've thought how some Star Trek ships kinda looked like Thanksgiving turkeys though....

Plucked and left hanging by it's feet to dry. But they're still the hottest looking and best fighting ships in the (un)known universe.

Yes, I was referring to his sissyness and that that could be why the Excalibur looked like a phallic symbol.

Being a gay man I laugh as such thoughts though I wasn't making a derrogatory comment. Just that he seemed a bit queer and -- well, that tied in nicely with the image.

I guess this would be a bad time to bring up how the Excalibur got humped from behind by the Fen in hyperspace.

To say nothing of the missing scene from that episode where the Excalibur was laying on it's back and enjoying a post-coital smoke.

Mmm. Tentacle sex.
