I just did my voting. I really dislike those polls. There should be requirements for voting. I get so sick of seeing only the newest and biggest movies or people at the top. I mean seriously, there is a poll titled "Favourite Scottish Character" and Scotty from Star Trek is 8th while someone from a movie that came out this year is first by a wide margin. That is ridiculous.

Favourite Scottish Character http://www.imdb.com/poll/4sYXZEchd7o/results There is a strong preference for the new and shiny versus classic on IMDb. This is probably due in large part to the demographics of IMDb users. Code:

I derived what I previous provided from
User ratings for The Shawshank Redemption (1994) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111161/ratings I've reviewed the ratings demographics for all of the IMDb Top 250 in the past and found that the demographics for The Shawshank Redemption is representative of the overall demographics for the IMDb Top 250. This table is based on a summary of the IMDb Top 250 from April 8, 2013. Code:
Males Females Unknown Total 64.0% 12.0% 24.1% 100.0% Total 0.6% 0.2% 0.0% 0.8% Under 18 35.0% 7.1% 0.0% 42.1% 18 to 29 23.2% 3.4% 0.0% 26.6% 30 to 44 4.8% 1.0% 0.0% 5.9% 45 + 0.3% 0.2% 24.1% 24.6% Unknown Last edited by Dan Dassow; 10-10-2014 at 09:02 AM. |

25 Shows of the 90's That Paved the Way for the New Golden Age of TV
http://www.imdb.com/poll/R59Y6IrZgRo/ One of the most influential changes to occur in the 25 years since IMDb began is the markedly improved quality of TV series. If the New Golden Age of television officially began in 1999 with the premiere of The Sopranos, then soon followed by series like Six Feet Under and The Wire, and was in full swing by the time series like Dexter, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones were introduced, the following shows of the 90's (IMDb's first decade) were perhaps the giants that the Golden Age shows stood upon. Instead of voting for your favorite of the shows below, which one's influence can be most seen in the TV of the New Golden Age? Babylon 5 is the second choice in the poll. It is currently in seventh place with only 5 votes. |

Poll: The Miracle of Hanukkah (TV version)
Poll: The Miracle of Hanukkah (TV version)
http://www.imdb.com/poll/zUuEsaZyLjg/ No one thought that the menorah would burn more than one day, yet miraculously, it burned for eight days!! Like the menorah, there are TV shows that practically nobody gave a chance to continue for more than one or two seasons, but by some miracle, they did. So which one of these TV shows are you most happy it didn't get canceled? Babylon 5 is the 16th choice. It currently only has 19 votes. ![]() Last edited by Dan Dassow; 12-10-2015 at 08:37 AM. |
