Well obviously would love to see a Midnight Nation adaptation. Though we'll see if it comes to fruitiion.

Yay graphic novel. No sign as to what it's going to be about?

Nope, he said he can't talk about them yet. I'm not familiar with that company - do they have a particular slant or genre?

Just found a write-up on JMS's C2E2 panel and the writer transcribed something really worthwhile from the panel:

Quote:
The panel wound up, appropriately, with a question about what Straczynski is most proud of.

"Doing it," he said. "Growing up, there was no one in the world that thought that I could pull this off. Guys in my neighborhood, Newark and Paterson and those areas, they all became either garage mechanics or ended up in prison. The tyranny of reasonable voices that comes to us all said 'Don't hurt yourself, don't embarrass yourself. You're never going to be a writer. Only ivory tower guys become writers.' And I wouldn't let go. It was important enough to me to fight and not stop liking what I wanted. I got mugged once and almost died in the process. What got me through and helped me stay alive was I had stories to tell. The reality of the writing profession is that becoming a writer is easy, staying a writer is hard, and that I am still here now is to me the best thing of all, to enjoy the work, to share the work, to hear your responses -- This, to me, is endless fun."

JMS just posted this about an hour ago:

Quote:
My Saturday schedule at San Diego Comic Con: 11:15 DC graphic novel panel; 12:45 Before Watchmen; 2:00 spotlight; 3:30 signing. If all goes as planned, expect some really massive news at the spotlight. (Not necessarily B5 related.)
A fan lamented that she can't attend due to her 20 year High School reunion that weekend.
Quote:
I totally get it...I'm going to my HS reunion for the first time in a very long while just a week or so earlier.

Of all the spotlights I've done, this may be the single most important...something I've been working toward for over a year now. For the folks attending SDCC, spread the word, because this is one you're NOT going to want to miss.
Another fan doesn't think it can be all that massive if it's not B5 related.
Quote:
Al...I guess you'll just have to see for yourself.
For anybody familiar with SDCC, unless these panels all end up in the same room, one's almost certain to miss something. The really big panels require a certain art of line-waiting and/or room-squatting and all three are probably going to be big panels. Everybody cross your fingers for your intrepid reporters from JMSNews, okay!

I would be very happy if it were B5 related, or if it was another non B5 epic series that didn't get canceled. But I'm assuming for my sanity that he said, "not necessarily B5 related" so that we B5 fans won't be so disappointed that it's not B5 that we'll miss out on the non B5 excitement.

Though if it's another super hero comic I'm not gonna be too excited. Though I will be happy for JMS since he certainly seems excited by it.

And Thank You to our intrepid reporter for all her intrepid reporting toooo!

Your intrepid reporter is happy to be of service. And to tell you the truth, I'm glad that he's excited about stuff to announce for this con. Because sadly, your intrepid reporter can't afford to go to Australia!

Awe on Australia!

I think it's wonderful that you've been able to attend so many cons though. And JMS must've known you wouldn't be going to Australia, so he very sweetly agreed to make his announcement next month.

I would love to go down to San Diego that weekend and meet up; I have no comic-con tickets though, even the one-day tix have been sold out forever.

Y'know...I'll bet you're exactly right! Good thinking. Of course it only stands to reason that JMS would arrange his entire business/creative schedule based on my needs. Silly me, how could I have ever doubted that!
